Wade Phillips As Dallas Head Coach?

First off, I would like to congratulate Tony Romo for winning the quarterback partion of the Pro Bowl Skills Challenge. He edged out Bengal's Carson Palmer, Saint's Drew Brees, and Ram's Marc Bulger (haha TJ.)

The hiring of the Phillips as head coach of Cowboys' could, directly or circutulosly, mean the return of the longtime defensive corrdinator Ted Cottrell to the league in 2007. He was out of the league before 2006, after he was part of Mike Tice's astaff at Minnesota Vikings terrority. Ted worked in the NFL in the leagues office last year, he heard out appeals and dished out fines all year. While that was interesting, coaching is in Cortell's blood and it is what he would prefer to do in 2007 I believe in my mind. And another good thing for Cowboys, Cottrell is a god of the 3-4 scheme that Phillips is bring back with the 2007 year.

But here is another interesting twist: Cottrell, 59, a 23 year veteran, could actually succeed Phillips as the San Diego defensive corrdinator, rather than join him on Dalla's staff. The departure of Manusky to San Franisco leaves that spot wide open for Cottrell. With San Diego also running the 3-4 scheme and being a great Super Bowl chance team, it will be a toss up where he will go.

It will be interesting also to see what becomes of Bill Parcell's asst. head coach, Tony Sparano, once all the dust settles in Dallas. He called the plays for the stats ranked 5th best offense team last year and was leagues fourth hihg-scoring team. He was one of the three in-house coaches interviewed by Jerry Jones for the spot of head coach before it was got by Phillips, and it is said to be in high regards by Jerry Jones. So it would seem, right, that retaining Tony would be a priority? Wait, what position? The Cowboys have already Jason Garrett as offense corrdinator, and head coach trainee, it sames. Which means that Tony could go back to his roots coaching the offensive line and swith a fancy title and a
BIGGER contract.

Well that is all I got to say today. Leave me a comment on here or at myspace.com/thefallenangel_jakeball, and also visit my partner TJ Sparks blog site theflagrantfoul.blogspot.com

I am out.
